The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the facility is adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens, between Sydney and Farm Coves.
Identified as one of the 20th century’s most distinctive buildings and one of the most famous performing arts centres in the world, the facility is managed by the Sydney Opera House Trust, under the auspices of the New South Wales Ministry of the Arts.
Though its name suggests a single venue, the project comprises multiple performance venues which together are among the busiest performing arts centres in the world—hosting over 1,500 performances each year.
Koala Bears, Kangaroos and didgeridoos – anything “down-under” is your goal!
DOWN UNDER
Where else
can wallabies
scratch fleas in busy streets
while a pair of koala bears
sip tea?

July 15 – Sydney Opera House
Ozzie Longing
I’ve always wanted to go there
Where kangaroos and koala bears
Run here and there and everywhere
And the cars drive left of the line
Where people speak so funny
And they have very colorful money
Where the Outback is hot and sunny
But the cities are clean and refined
But, alas, I never made the trip there
I’ve no memories or pictures to share
I’d still love to visit, I declare
If only I had the money and the time

Like a family of whales
poking their heads
out of the water,
but the singing’s beyond
the song of whales.

CULTURE ON THE HALF-SHELL
A multipurpose venue
for a multifunction night,
a many splendor thing for sure,
Sydney has it right!
A stage, a theater,
an exhibition center,
much to be seen
at this Australian scene.
The Concert Hall has heard it all,
The playhouse is quite fun.
You can shop and go on tours
and the Forecourt offers more outdoors.
You can get a bite,
you can party all night,
culture on the half-shell,
it is quite a site!

Imposing, impressive,
the architecture
of the opera house,
transmitting cones
of light that shine
like mirrors in the harbor.
Of course, I would rather
see a kangaroo.
