    THE COMPLAINANT SPEAKS

    Robbers
    in old Milo
    were slick and audacious:
they would steal the shirt off your back.
    To arms!

    Teach me aged one,
show me the ways of life!
I am young and you are
here to guide me in this world.

    Times are changing,
yet it is all so new to me.
I depend on you to be.
    Teach me aged one.

    Soon you will be
too old and I will be
    prepared to care for you,
show me the ways of life!

    I cherish your gentility.
    You have given so much
and I wish to help you now.
I am young and you are

    most deserving to be cared
    for and celebrated. I am
elated that it was you who was
here to guide me in this world.

    Hey Venus,
    goddess of love
you are the epitome to me.
I can see your beauty clearly
    your image is dearly cherished.
    Baby, you’ve got it!
    You are the queen,
    be you Shocking Blue,
    or in Blue Jeans.
    So if you will,
    thrill me with a love
    who shares your charms.
(But be sure she has two arms?)

    Mona Smiles

Mona smiles from behind the glass
Draws attention from all who pass
    Her eyes speak volumes mysteriously
    Her mischievous gaze shines seriously
    With paint on canvas immortalized
For all to gaze into Mona’s eyes
And wonder why the playful smile
A wonder I’ve had for quite a while

  8. Giving Comfort

    Everyone experiences fear.
You will get over what frightens you,
Ghirlandaio, as you grow older. Look at me.
I am an old man, no longer handsome
or charming. You are a young boy
with many adventures ahead. Look out
the window at this beautiful land
    we live in. Being educated
gives you the whole world, my boy.
Now give your grandpa a hug,
    dry your tears, and tackle
your fears. You have a long way
    to go.

    If one had painted
    the Mona Lisa today,
    would people like her?
